A Poem...

we find ourselves

scouring the beach
over and over

lifting the pebbles
just enough

to rattle them
we say

Startlingly vivid and beautifully concise. A triumph, Dominic.

Lovely, Dominic, and so vivid in its brevity that I feel I'm there with you on that quiet strand of pebbled beach.

and amongst those pebbles you discovered a poem

Dear Dominic, that poem is lovely! Collecting pebbles on the beach is fun (I'm always on the look-out for those with a whole in the middle), listening to the very strange sound they make on shores with big pebbles instead of sand is interesting, though those won't listen to 'hush'.

I love the sound of wet pebbles shaken by the waves. Beautiful poem -- all the best for 2014 and I hope you find whatever it was you lost under the pebbles.
