The Fall

to my surprise
I had time
to wonder at
the light
at the end
of the tunnel
how it turned
from a sun
into a star
that got smaller
and smaller
in a night sky
I had all
to myself
and I waited
for it to go
out altogether
as sometime it must
I thought
one way or another
rock or water
but no
it just seemed
to go on
and on
I never thought
I'd have time
to finish a

How delicately unrolled - reminds me somehow of a Christy Brown poem about a man sitting and thinking . on a convenient seat at a country roadside and looking out over the fields when suddenly a large moon rises . .
