Applause! Applause! I love this poem, Dominic. It fits the photo perfectly.
Oh yes...high and low culture in 8 lines...all the world in a moment. Excellent job!x
Encore! Can only echo the above. Inspired. And I laughed like a drain.
I love it! This really makes me smile.
Great fun--& as others have said, well suited to the photo!
Trust you to work James Joyce in somehow!
That is deadly Dominic, made me laugh out loud.Second stanza is the clincher. You couldn't improve on that! Tanxz Ye!
Thanks for these comments, everybody. As for working James Joyce in, it was simply the case that he rhymed with "squeaky voice" ;)
somebody else went for helium! hurrah! loved the voice/joyce conjunction
Hey you're another one gone for the balloon man. This is so much 'lighter and brighter' than my attempt at this challenge! I like the way you change the tone in so few lines .....and it really made me laugh too! Great stuff.
Dominic, I LOVE this poem! The squeaky voice with Joyce is the best!
So you went for the balloons..loved it!
Yes I love this poem yes it makes me smile with delight yes I love James Joyce and was in Dublin this year on Bloomsday yes I'm writing all this in that tiny squeaky voice and wishing you a good night yes
Concise and dramatic. L love the fact that when you had said what you wanted to say, you stopped. Super.
Thanks for these comments everybody (if I could find a squeaky font, I'd be writing in it!)
